Weekend courses
Weekend courses are designed to give you an insight
into the world of TEFL. Whilst these cannot be compared directly with
3 or 4-week intensive courses, they do enable attendees to gain a useful
approach to TEFL, and in countries where the there is a lower minimum
requirement for the qualifications of teachers, these courses can serve
as a ‘passport’ into teaching and a short introduction ideal
for helping to orientate potential teachers who may be leaving the country
on a very short term teaching mission, where teaching English is not designed
to provide a sustainable source of income, or where teaching might take
place on a casual basis.
The I-to-I weekend course takes place in a number
of locations in the UK, Ireland and in the United States, at regular intervals
and usually in a city centre (downtown) hotel. The course is well structured
and the level of support and attention to individual clients is well thought
out.

Over the 2-day course you will interact with all the
essential TEFL areas:
During the course you will cover how to:
- MANAGE your classroom in a fun, but structured way
- DETERMINE and meet your students' language needs
- PLAN and deliver effective lessons
- ADAPT games you already know into useful teaching activities
- DELIVER new English vocabulary in a imaginative way
- TEACH students to speak and write English
- WORK with students and help them listen to and speak English
- UNDERSTAND grammar terminology
- SEARCH for your perfect teaching job
The i-to-i team created the Weekend course by taking the practical teaching
aspects of a full-time course and condensing them into a fast-paced 20-hour
programme. We continually monitor and upgrade the course to ensure you
receive the most current, creative and useful instruction available.
You can supplement the weekend course with other short courses and modules
as follows:
40 Hour Course
- Weekend TEFL course plus Grammar Awareness Module (GAM)
80 Hour Course - Weekend TEFL course
plus GAM and OnlineTEFL Course (see separate section)
The 40 Weekend TEFL Course is the quickest and easiest way to gain a basic
insight into becoming a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
teacher.

Are these courses accredited?
i-to-i has achieved Provider Accreditation Status from the ODLQC
The ODLQC was set up by the UK Government in
1968 to enhance quality in education and training. It aims to protect
the interests of learners by operating a voluntary registration scheme
for providers of home study, distance learning, online or e-learning and
other open learning courses.
To register, a provider has to meet the Open and Distance Learning Quality
Council standards. Accreditation includes a rigorous assessment of administrative
and tutorial methods, educational materials and publicity. Accredited
institutions are monitored to ensure that students continue to receive
good service, and are re-assessed at least once every three years.
What this means to you?
You can be sure of a good quality service, monitored and checked by a
respected external awarding body.
As a student of i-to-i, you have the right to contact the ODLQC if you
are unsatisfied with the academic quality or content of the course.
